Tip #1 –

Drink, Drink, Drink and Drink Water… is the most important information you can get when losing weight.

Drinking a full glass of water before and during each meal will help you to eat less. It will control your appetite. Some people mistake hunger for dehydration. Try having some water first and waiting a few minutes to make sure your hydrated.

Also, drinking water will aid in digesting your food more quickly. If your body is dehydrated it can make you feel exhausted and sluggish. We can do without food for several weeks, but with water just 3 days.

Tip #2 –

Don’t, Don’t, Don’t drink Soda and fruit drinks.

Sugar and chemicals is what they have to offer your body. Caffeine takes away from your body staying hydrated. Making your own fresh juice is always a healthier option. Eating lots of fruit is even better. The sugar in fruit is natural and without the chemicals that soda and fruit drinks contain. Fruit offers your body fiber and vitamins.

Tip #3 –

Alcohol, coffee, tea… Again, Offers your body sugar and dehydration.

We all know that alcohol turns into sugar, and after consuming it we feel extremely thirsty, which means dehydration. Now there are some benefits to alcohol. For instance dry red wine can be good for your heart. Drinking water after alcohol intake can help keep your body hydrated.

Coffee and tea with added sugar and cremes will not keep the weight off. If you like having your coffee and tea, try having it just  black.

Tea does have some benefits to your health. Green tea has been used as a medicine in China for thousands of years (it’s been known to lower cancer risk among many other health benefits), and it has been used for weight loss. Green tea contains many antioxidants one in particular named (Epigallocatechin gallate) is known to step-up metabolism.

Tip #4 –

There are other ways to stay hydrated by eating certain fruits and vegetables.

Since most of these consist of 87% to 95% water, you can eat as much as you like and keep the weight off. These can be eaten as a healthy snack in replacement of an unhealthy snack. You will feel more energized with all the vitamins and nutrients they provide.

Here are just a few water based fruits and vegetables that will keep you hydrated. Tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, grapes, cranberries, oranges, pineapple, lettuce, celery, cauliflower, spinach, cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, white potato, etc.

Tip #5 –

Have 5 small meals a day. Instead of two large meals a day.

You will be more in control of what you put in your mouth and when. Consistency is always the key. When you eat just two large meals your body may feel as if your starving it… This causes over eating.

If you don’t have time to eat 5 small meals, keep healthy snacks around like fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Also, when serving yourself use a smaller plate, your mind will play tricks on you, and it will lead to smaller amounts of food on your plate. Pay close attention to what you eat and the condiments you put on your food.

IMPORTANT: Eat ONLY when your hungry, as soon as, your no longer hungry STOP eating.

Tip #6 –

Preparing foods the right way will help you to lose weight.

Stay away from fried, processed foods, and junk food. Prepare your own food instead of buying processed food. Food that is not processed is a better and healthier option. It will also keep the weight gain at bay.

Baking and broiling meats/fish makes food much healthier than frying it. Also, broiling your food takes less time and makes the food taste better.

When preparing your vegetables, eating them raw is always best. But if you prefer them cooked, boiling is best just make sure they are not over cooked since that takes away from their vitamins and nutrients. Junk foods can be replaced with fruits, nuts, seeds, trail mix, yogurt, etc.

Tip #7 –

Dieting has helped people to lose weight.

If you decide to go on a diet, starving yourself is not the key. It can weaken your immune system and will not help keep the weight off. Try dieting in a way that doesn’t involve changing your lifestyle completely.

You can eat the same foods you prepare everyday just by making them healthier. Some examples of what you can do is to replace ground beef with turkey ground. It has much less fat and grease.

Butter can be replaced with extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, etc. Sugar can be replaced with honey or agave. Finding a healthier alternative to preparing your food will keep your diet simple.

Tip #8 –

Exercising to lose weight can be challenging for most. Especially if you work at a desk all day.

Taking the stairs instead of an elevator can help. When you get a break instead of reaching for that doughnut take a walk instead. It is important to keep your body moving and the blood flowing.

Start off small by keeping the body moving in some way. Exercise 4 days a week for about 30 min. Some examples of what you can do are house cleaning, washing your car, walking the dog, jogging, hell even bowling and golfing.

Purchase a set of dumbbells at your local Walmart. There are no excuses for not keeping the body moving. Visit YouTube and you can find several different 30 min exercise routines you can do from your own home. You don’t even have to purchase a gym membership to exercise.

Other examples of staying active are Tai Chi (slower body movements), yoga, aerobics, even kick boxing. Just find away that works for you. Consistency is the key.

So in a nutshell, drinking water is as important than staying away from sodas and alcohol. Drinking water and eating water based foods will keep your hydrated. Eating and preparing healthier foods will keep you away from the Doctor and help you to lose weight. Keeping the body moving will lead you to an active life.
